Ninja Mantis was born from an egg, just like any other pokemon. For as long as he could remember, he was always alone. His parental parents had never been revealed, either because they are already dead or they simply disappeared. As such, the mantis pokemon was always alone, fighting to survive either to just get scraps of food or fighting against enemies. The scyther creature would continue to travel alone, having gone through many cities and towns, mainly keeping to the shadows before he found himself in the sewers. Deciding he was too tired to travel any further, Ninja Mantis would climb up in to a sewer pipe and would fall asleep. Durring his sleep, he had heard many noises, including a strange screaming voice and a loud explosion from the surface, but gave no heed to it. Finally one day, a strange mushroom creature would invade his home, and the two would battle until it was caught in an Ultra ball and was now forced in to a new familly with the mushroom creature and it's faithful kanine.
